Description:
Vacheron & Constantin, the Prestige Swiss Watch Company made the movement for Black Starr and Frost Circa. 1890. This whimsical pendant watch features old mine cut and rose cut diamonds in a millegrain setting. All diamonds tested with a diamond tester. Total diamond weight is approximately 5.25 carats. Platinum tested with platinum acid. The watch hangs from a swivel bail and an elaborate openwork floral design. Pave-set rose cut diamonds encrust a disk covering the watch back. The black-on-white watch face displays delicate script numbers and is marked Black Starr and Frost. The face is framed by a scrolling curvilinear motif. The watch mechanism is marked Vacheron & Constantin, Swiss, and 38659. The watch is 5/8" (1.5cm) diameter the face is 3/4" (2cm) diameter and the case measures 2-3/8" (6cm) long from bottom to top of bail. This beautifully crafted gold watch key is in the shape of a dumbbell. The round ends are decorated with textured ovoid forms outlined in black enamel. A tapering key is found at one end. A fixed hanging loop is attached to a bulbous form on the central bar. The French eagle mark appears on the loop.
