This richly evocative horn box features a hinged lid with a Biblical scene in relief of Jesus his mother Mary and Mary Magdelene. Jesus bearing the cross gestures to the pleading women while a Roman soldier leads him on. Two onlookers flank the scene. Inscribed in French at the bottom of scene: JESUS RENCONTRANT SA Ste MERE.
