Description:
Vacheron & Constantin, the Prestige Swiss Watch Company made the movement for Black Starr and Frost Circa. 1890. This whimsical pendant watch features old mine cut and rose cut diamonds in a millegrain setting. All diamonds tested with a diamond tester. Total diamond weight is approximately 5.25 carats. Platinum tested with platinum acid. The watch hangs from a swivel bail and an elaborate openwork floral design. Pave-set rose cut diamonds encrust a disk covering the watch back. The black-on-white watch face displays delicate script numbers and is marked Black Starr and Frost. The face is framed by a scrolling curvilinear motif. The watch mechanism is marked Vacheron & Constantin, Swiss, and 38659. The watch is 5/8" (1.5cm) diameter the face is 3/4" (2cm) diameter and the case measures 2-3/8" (6cm) long from bottom to top of bail. This elegant pendant watch was made for the prominent Boston jewelers Bigelow Kennard & Co. The face displays stylized platinum color numbers and hands on an off-white background. A row of diamonds set in platinum forms an intricate border. A black enamel edge separates the face from the back. The arch-shaped hanging loop is also encrusted with diamonds. Marked "3 PLATINUM 6" on the back. The movement is probably made by one of the best Swiss watchmakers C.H. Meylan of Brassus, Switzerland, are marked "BIGELOW KENNARD & CO. BOSTON", "SWISS", AND "ADJUSTED 10188". The 59 diamond total weight is approximately 1.75Ct It is in working condition, but it is being offered in an as is condition....more
