He depicts a contemplative seated nude female figure with her arms around her left leg and her head slightly nodded. Kadar's use of the untouched paper to convey volume and a suggestion of depth in space is expertly realized. Signed lower right.

The tonal, misty atmosphere is evoked by a palette of soft greens and browns, with subtle hints of mauve. Signed lower left.

This very attractive and well-executed work is oil on canvas. (It has been relined.) The pastoral scene depicts a herdswoman in a bold red and white frock coaxing a herd of six cows and seven sheep across a planked bridge above a stream. One cow is descending into the stilled stream to drink. A goat stands and observes the scene just beyond the cattle, on the opposite side of the bridge, woods in the distance, with a pale blue sky filled with pink tinged clouds above. Signed "A. Koska" on lower left. Aniela Kostka, a Polish painter born mid-to-last quarter of the 19th century. The painting is in the original 2" wide ribbed gold gilded wood frame.
