Description:
"On the Beach at Clovelly 1880 Worcester" hand written by the artist on the back of the painting. On the front lower left signed James Bradley 1880. This serenely charming work depicts a fisherman mending nets with his wife standing next to him. She holds a large wicker basket, pausing a moment in the midst of her daily chores. Behind the couple there are two crisply rendered fishing boats and nets drying on a rack, with the sea lapping off into the wide distance beyond. The atmospheric seaside rendering is complemented by the quiet introspection both figures evoke.

James Bradley was an English painter from Worcester, England born around 1848. Clovelly is a village in Devon, England. The large original carved wooden frame features palmette and beaded borders. The painting is in great antique condition. Some damage only to the frame.

condition as found. There is a tiny missing paint in the upper left
hand quadrant of sky. Set in its original period frame in good
condition but there are 3 very old small damages on the left side.

This luminous painting done on oil on canvas highlights a procession of horse-drawn carriages filled with joyful Russian peasants in colorful folk costume as they ride through the snow-filled winter countryside. This type of genre scene is representative of the Bulgarian-born Russian painter, Pjotr Constantine Stojanow (1857-1957), known for his depictions of the Russian countryside as well as historical scenes. Signed "C. Stojanow" at lower right. The gilded wood frame is typical of the period.

One man stands apart observing the action, and there is a small dog in the foreground also looking on. An air of mystery and expectation pervades the scene, and the mood is accentuated by the soft, distinct light emanating from an open door beyond. It is signed at lower right. A gilded wood frame completes the scene. Unfortunately I can't identify the painter. Painting is in very good antique condition, some small damages on the frame.

This painting is an excellent example of works which reflected the 19th century romantic view of hunting, royalty, and traditional manor life. The birds are hung in a pleasant arrangement, and the implication is that they are valuable trophies and a future gourmet meal.

Hand painted miniature portrait, signed by the artist "Remi" on top of a white snuff box. Late 1700s to early 1800s Century. It may have been done after a more famous artist's painting. This fine lovely well preserved painting is of a beautiful young lady of the 18th Century fashion. It has no chips or cracks. I could not take it out to examine it without the danger of damaging it, so what you're seeing here are digital photos through the cover. It is in very good condition for its age, other than the two age cracks which are visible in our images. There is no damage to the painting.
It closes perfectly.
Simple gold band frames the portrait. Not tested, but I strongly believe it to be gold. ...more

This beautifully painted miniature signed by "Tomassi" is after the famous painting by Guido Reni. Beatrice Cenci was a beautiful Italian teenage girl. She instigated the killing of her brutal father and was executed in Rome in 1599. The portrait of Beatrice by Guido Reni is in the Barberini gallery. This is in a lovely bronze frame with brass backing.
