This gracefully shaped art deco Hagenauer shiny bronze or brass bud
vase is partially black patinated, which is typical of Karl Hagenauer's
work. Marked on the bottom: Handmade Hagenauer Wien WHW
(Werkstatten Hagenauer Wien) Made in Austria. The Hagenauer workshop patterned itself in the style of the famous Wiener Werkstatte. Condition is good some nicks and scratches, consistent with age. Karl Hagenauer (1898 -1956) was an Austrian designer best known for his Art Deco sculptures. Karl Hagenauer went to study at the Vienna School of Applied Arts under Josef Hoffmann and Oskar Strnad. Today, his works can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others. The Hagenauer workshop patterned itself in the style of the famous Wiener Werkstatte.
