It is suitable for either hanging on the wall or standing. It is marked on the back: A and a maker's symbol, (I am unfamiliar with it). Original easel back. In excellent antique original condition (some of the gold rubbed off)

It dates from the late 19th century. The frame culminates in a stick stand and it also have a ring for hanging it on the wall. Excellent antique condition, some loss of gold gilt (see photos)

This large magnificent 19th C original French ormolu or gilded bronze easel picture frame consists of three touching heart-shaped frames. Each frame has beaded border and each is surmounted by a fleur-de-lis. The frame is metal backed and can hold a 4" x 5" (10.2 x 12.7 cm) picture. The hinged bronze stand divides into two legs.
It is very hard to find a triple frame in heart shape.
In excellent original antique condition.

This striking easel picture frame has a brass or bronze frame decorated with intricate beaded rows and decorative swags. Along the inside is a row of vibrant color purple stones, (most likely amethysts). Each corner has an openwork bracket with a larger bezel-set faceted matching stones. At the top center is a decorative bow, also with a bezel-set purple stones. Behind is a hinged brass back board and wire stand. Marked E & J.B for E & J Bass Company of New York, makers of jewelry and other items from the 1890s until the 1930s. The frame is in great antique condition.

Size:10" x 8" (25.4 cm x 20.3cm); 8" x 6-1/2" (20.3 cm x 16.5 cm) inside measurement
