This playful articulated lantern charm is made of pinchbeck, an alloy of copper and zinc. The front hinged door features a domed bezel-set red stone. The combination of stone and metal elements evoke whimsy with a slight hint of the unexpected. The body of the piece is incised with a distinct floral motif, and a slim rope-like handle and a double fluted cap with a finial adds a final delicate touch. This striking Georgean pendant is in the shape of a shield. The front displays a gold filled or rolled gold cross with elaborate curvilinear foliate motifs against four quadrants of Scottish agath. A lock of hair under glass adorns the back of the pendant. There is a hanging loop at the top center. The pendant measures 3/4"H, 5/8"W and 1/4"D Rolled Gold is a composition consisting of gold-plating welded to and rolled with a backing of brass or other base metal, at least 1/20 of the total weight being that of the gold.
