Description: |
Late 18th early 19th Century continental ash marquetry blanket chest,
probably South German, with rectangular top and French corners in
front. Two marquetry inlaid reserves depicting birds on a branch in
cartouche. similarly inlaid front, a cross-band border, oversize metal
handles on sides, central hand wrought decorative metal escutcheon.
Molded rail about 2/3rds down with matching base rail, four bun feet,
hand wrought metal hinges. It is in good antique condition, some age
