Description: |
Stunning Georgian gold ring. Four natural approximately 3.5 mm
pearls form a cross with a central rectangular emerald. Six additional
emeralds surround the pearls. All stones are foiled back. The
ensemble is eye catching in its design, culminating in a delicate
ribbed shank which sets off the ring. It is unmarked, but acid tested
to be not less than 15 Kt gold. The ring is in very good antique
condition. Age: Approximate age: 1820 Size: 6.5 Top measurement approximately: 8 mm x 17 mm Weight: 2.1g The term Georgian refers to an era in English history during the reign of King George I-IV from 1714 - 1830. Sometimes the term is applied to jewelry from other countries (France, Italy, and the United States for example). Closed backs were used on almost all gems. |
