Description: |
This beautiful silver container holds spices or other aromatic plants
used during the Havdalah ceremony at the close of Shabbat. The
domed top features open floral and leaf motifs and screws directly
onto the container. The body of the piece consists of three tapering
bulbous sections on a spreading foot, a narrow band of floral motifs
girds the uppermost section. There is an unidentified maker's or
assay mark on the bottom as well as a "13" mark indicating .800
silver. Probably German mid 19th century. Condition: Excellent
