Description: |
This striking Georgean pendant is in the shape of a shield. The front displays a gold filled or rolled gold cross with elaborate curvilinear foliate motifs against four quadrants of Scottish agath. A lock of hair under glass adorns the back of the pendant. There is a hanging loop at the top center. The pendant measures 3/4"H, 5/8"W and 1/4"D Rolled Gold is a composition consisting of gold-plating welded to and rolled with a backing of brass or other base metal, at least 1/20 of the total weight being that of the gold. Patented in England in 1817. |
