Description:
This whimsical cat figurine displays a pert seated cat. It has plum colored stripes on a white ground, wide yellow eyes, and a collar of red dots on a yellow ground. The feline sits on a hexagonal base of green dots on a lighter green ground representing grass. A striped band of red and green foliage motifs on a yellow ground winds around the base. Manufactured by the De Porceleyne Claeuw Factory of Delft in the Netherlands circa 1720.
A similar cat was sold at Sotheby Parke Bernet in New York on Feb. 22, 1974 and another was in the Garbisch collection in 1980. This lovely cat is in excellent condition with a few minor glaze losses mainly to the socle. There are some unidentified indented marks on the bottom.
