Early 19th century Georgian openwork earrings with black enamel and
6 rose cut diamonds. Hinged back ear wire that fastened into a loop from the back of the ear lobe to the front of the earring. In excellent antique condition. Most likely it is the top of a Day and Night earrings. (bottoms must have been lost) They are called "Day and Night" earrings, because the tops can be removed and worn on their own during the day, and the bottoms added at night to make more dramatic and more dressy look for evening wear. Period: Early 19th century Size: 11 mm diameter, 20 cmm long from the top of the ear- wire. |
