Description: |
This silver footed open salt cellar is a fine example of the Biedermeier
period in Vienna. The square design featuring a smoothly rising and
falling form of lip and foot. Marked for Vienna, 1847, 812 fineness. An
elaborate family crest appears on the stem. It is in very good antique
condition. On the inner side at the bottom there may have been a
repair. Size: base: 1.25" x 2.75" (3.2 cm x 7.0 cm) top: 3.75" x 2.75" (9.5 cm x 7.0 cm) Just a suggestion for a gift for someone who has everything: I keep my jewelry on my dressing table or night table for keeping them for overnight. |
