Description: |
Large water jug made by "Fischer Budapest" around 1880. The jug is heavily decorated with polychrome chinoiserie motifs on a blue ground and sports a delicately shaped handle. The ornamentation is a colorful riot of butterflies, fan leaves, vases with flowers, and other floral motifs. Marked on the bottom PATENT and FISCHER J/BUDAPEST. The piece is in excellent antique condition, no chips or cracks. There is some crazing. The Fischer porcelain company was purchased by Zsolnay. Size: 13" (33 cm) high |
